Privacy Policy: Vesper
Effective October 4, 2026 (updated October 12, 2026 for Game Days, Street Sync, warranty registration and photos)
Vesper (the "App", listed as Vesper Lights) is provided by Chagrin Valley Holiday & Permanent Lights ("we", "us") so you can control the permanent lighting we installed at your home.
We Do Not Collect Any Data
The App does not collect, store, transmit, sell or share any personal information or usage data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no crash reporting.
How the App Works
- The App talks to the light controller(s) on your home Wi-Fi network, directly over your local network. It never sends information about you to us or to any other internet service.
- Game schedule: at most once a day the App downloads a public list of game dates from our website (chagrinvalleyholidaylights.com) so Game Day colors match real games. Nothing about you is sent with that request beyond what any web request includes (such as your internet address), and we don't log it to identify you.
- The App asks for Local Network access so it can find and control your light controller. This access is used only for that purpose.
- The App never reads or stores your Wi-Fi password. The only time you type one is in the "Changed Your Wi-Fi?" guide, and it is sent once, directly to your own light controller, so it can join your new network.
- The App keeps a few settings on your phone only: the address and name of your light controller(s), looks and patterns you save, your favorites and recently used looks, effect and Music Sync preferences, and your lighting schedule. These stay on your device (and on your light controller) and are removed when you delete the App.
- To decide when to show a one-time "Leave a Review" suggestion, the App remembers on your phone only the date it was set up, the dates it was opened (the last few), and whether you chose "Not Now" or "No Thanks". This never leaves your phone.
- Your holiday choices, dimming settings, saved looks, game days, Street Sync shows, vacation dates, family moments (the names and dates you enter, such as a birthday), and the color tuning and roofline sections set by our installer are stored on your light controller so everyone in your home sees the same settings. Anyone with access to your home Wi-Fi network could read what is stored on the controller, so enter only what you're comfortable with.
- Warranty: your light controller stores your warranty ID, install date, coverage length and your first name. Your full name, phone, email and address are never stored on the controller or in the App's own storage on your phone; when you register, they go to us in a text message you send yourself (see below).
- Photos: if you add a photo to an "Add More Lights" request, it is shrunk and shared only through the share sheet you choose; the App doesn't keep it. The App asks for Camera or Photos access only when you tap to add a photo.
- Siri, Shortcuts and widgets: the App keeps a small summary of your controllers and favorite looks on your phone so Siri, Shortcuts and the Home Screen widget can work. It never leaves your phone.
Links You Choose to Open
If you tap Call, Text, Email or Website on the Help screen, your phone's own phone, messaging, email or web browser app opens. Anything you send that way is handled by those apps and by us as normal customer communication.
- Text Us About a Problem opens your Messages app with a note already written: the problem you picked, and for each light controller its name, whether it's online, its software version, its Wi-Fi signal strength and its address on your home network, plus the App version. You can read and edit it, and nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
- Refer a Neighbor opens your phone's share sheet (or Messages) with a short message and our website. You choose who, if anyone, receives it.
- Leave a Review opens our Google review page in your browser.
- Register Your Warranty opens Messages with your name, phone, email (optional), the address of the lights and your warranty ID. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
- Free Check-Up and Add More Lights open Messages (or the share sheet, if you add a photo) with your request. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
- Send Us a Report (formerly Text Us About a Problem) also includes each controller's warranty ID and install date.
Children
The App does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.

Microphone (Clap Mode and Music Sync)
If you turn on Clap Mode or Music Sync, the App uses your phone's microphone while that screen is open.
- Clap Mode listens for claps. Sound is analyzed on your phone in real time; it is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
- Music Sync listens to the music playing near your phone so your lights can move with it. Sound is analyzed on your phone in real time and is never recorded or stored. The App sends only light-control information computed from it (loudness, beats and the loudness of 16 pitch ranges, a few dozen numbers about 40 times a second) and lighting commands, and only to your own light controller(s) over your home Wi-Fi. Nothing is sent to us or to any internet service, and nothing about the sound can be played back from it.
- Clap Mode stops listening when you leave its screen. Music Sync keeps listening while it's running, including when you switch apps or lock your phone, so your lights keep following the music; your iPhone shows the microphone indicator the whole time, and it stops the moment you tap Stop. You can turn microphone access off at any time in your phone's Settings.
