What Most Associations Actually Regulate

Read your covenants and you'll usually find three lines about holiday décor: it can't be attached in a way that damages the structure, it can't be up before a certain date, and it has to be down by a certain date, most often two to three weeks into January. Some add a brightness or animation rule. Almost none regulate color.

What a Seasonal C9 Install Attaches To

Nothing structural. Each bulb sits on a clip that grips the gutter lip or the shingle edge. There are no screws, staples, or adhesive, and everything comes off in January without a mark. That satisfies the attachment clause in every set of covenants we've read on the east side, including the historic-district standards in Chagrin Falls and Hudson.

Towns Where Windows Are Common

Solon's newer subdivisions, Barrington and Walden in Aurora, Tanglewood and Canyon Lakes in Bainbridge, Canterbury and Ashbrooke in Hudson, Sterling Lakes in Pepper Pike, Aberdeen in Highland Heights, and Newell Creek in Mentor all have written guidelines with a January date. Most older streets in Mayfield Village, Chesterland, and Willoughby Hills have none. Each town page says which.

How We Schedule Around It

Tell us the takedown date at the site walk and we put it on the calendar before the lights go up. Takedowns run through January, weather permitting, and we prioritize homes with a written window. If your board wants an insurance certificate, email us the name it should list.
