When to Hang Christmas Lights in Cleveland
Earlier than you think, and you don't have to turn them on until you want to.
Install Early, Light Late
On Cleveland's east side the ground is usually still soft and the gutters dry through October. By the second week of November, lake-effect rain, the first hard freeze, and a 5pm sunset make every install slower and every ladder riskier. Professional installers hang most of the season's lights in October and the first half of November, then set a timer so the lights stay dark until the homeowner's chosen date. That's why our calendar runs October through December 10 and why install dates go in the order deposits come in.
When the Lights Come On
Most Chagrin Valley homes turn on the weekend after Thanksgiving, which lines up with the Village lighting in Chagrin Falls and the greens in Hudson. Some homes go earlier for a party or a photo. The timer handles either; you tell us the date at the site walk and can change it by text.
When They Come Down
Takedowns run in January, weather permitting. Several neighborhoods in Solon, Aurora, and Bainbridge have HOA windows for holiday décor, usually two to three weeks into January. Tell us yours and we schedule inside it.
Booking Timing
If you want lights on for Thanksgiving weekend, book in September or October. Early December dates usually hold until mid-November. After December 10 we stop installing for the season and start holding dates for the following year.
