The Hudson Historic District is the roughly 70 acres around the Green that went on the National Register in 1973, the core of the village David Hudson's party from Connecticut founded in 1802. Its houses are mostly Greek Revival and Federal, with some high-style Victorian. It's a walking neighborhood, so these houses are seen from the sidewalk as much as from the car.

How We Light Homes in Hudson Historic District
A Greek Revival house in the district often turns its gable end to the street, and a Federal house shows a long eave line with a centered door. On a gable front we trace the rakes to the peak and frame the entry. On a Federal front we run the eave from corner to corner and keep the entry symmetrical. Warm white suits the painted clapboard and trim, and because these houses sit near the street, bulb spacing is kept even so it looks right from the sidewalk as well as the car. Every clip grips the gutter or shingle edge and comes off in January without a mark.

Hudson Historic District Association Rules
The district has no HOA, but the city's Architectural and Historic Board of Review has issued certificates of appropriateness for exterior changes here since 1975. Seasonal C9s clip on and come off, with no fasteners and nothing changed on the house. Permanent track lighting is a fixed change to the fascia, so in the district, check with the city about it before choosing it.
What It Costs
$1,000 season minimum. Every home is quoted individually.
Terms run 2, 3, or 5 seasons. The per-season price steps down on the longer terms, and every season's price is written into the agreement. A 50% deposit holds your date; the balance is due at install.
Takedowns happen in January, weather permitting. If anything goes out during the season, text a photo, hear back the same day, and anything that's our fault is fixed within 48–72 hours, weather permitting, at no charge. Hudson Historic District Questions
Will the clips mark painted trim or old gutters?
No. The clips grip the gutter lip or shingle edge by tension. Nothing is screwed, stapled, or glued, and every clip comes off at takedown.
Can I put permanent lighting on a house in the Historic District?
Talk to the city first. Permanent track is a fixed change to the exterior, so it's worth asking the Architectural and Historic Board of Review before you commit. Seasonal lights avoid the question entirely.
My house sits close to the sidewalk. Does that change the design?
It changes the spacing. Up close, uneven bulbs stand out, so we cut each run to the house and keep the spacing even from end to end.
